Recipe of the Day

Today, is the first day of Summer and in Vancouver it is the first day that feels like summer. We have been in June-uary since...well.. January or so it feels. Some days we were teased with sunshine only to end the day in rain, and some days have started with hail to end in sunshine. Today I finally was out and about in a tank top (without carry an umbrella, scarf, jacket, sunglasses, shorts, rubber boots and flip flops) so needless to say i had a lighter bag. After going on a run and few hard workouts with clients I am parched and the H2O isn't quite going to cut it.

Here is my easy go-to Recipe for a Healthy and Detoxifying Iced Tea

5 or 6 Green Tea Bags or Loose leaf if you have it
2 liters of Boiling Water
1 or 2 Lemon
3/4 Tablespoons of Honey
Ice

I place the tea in a large pot and add boiling water. Then I squeeze the entire lemon or two in and add honey. Allow to Cool. Remove teabags (or loose leaf with a tea strainer). Pour over ice and Enjoy!

Makes 2 liters.

This is a low-calorie, option to juice and it is FULL of antioxidants from the Green Tea. The extra benefits of the lemon are that your liver and kidneys get a cleanse. Lemon also helps to promote alkalinity in the body - which means you are less likely to catch a cold. And lastly, Lemon is an appetite suppressant so if you are feeling a bit peckish between meals a iced glass of this make keep you going til your next snack or meal.
